Choosing the right e-commerce software

I was thinking of writing a blog on different types of e-commerce softwares available in the market and how to choose the right one for your business. The intent was to make it exhaustive enough to cover all open source and paid tools and list out all the strengths and weaknesses of different softwares so that someone reading can have a more clear idea.
